To J. Powell,
Thank you very much for the information on the film The Language of Wine. I had not heard of it but will certainly check it out. It sounds very interesting. I hope you enjoyed our article.

Another documentary film on the enological topic is THE LANGUAGE OF WINE by Roderick Coover. This ia a very poetic film about how the terms of wine making in Burgundy are also the metaphors by which winemakers describe their work, lives, and passions. The website at http://www.languageofwine.com reads:

"The Language of Wine is a documentary film/DVD that presents a story about the lives of Burgundian winemakers through 13 vignettes that take place in vineyards, cellars, and winemakers' homes. Recorded in the anthropological tradition of participant observation, the documentary transports viewers to a world behind the media gloss and harvest festivities - a world shaped by very particular experiences, goals and challenges.

"The winemakers discuss the experience of working a land whose reputation precedes them by centuries, and they reflect on how local history shapes their work and the goals they pursue. Meet winemakers at Domaine de la Romanée Conti, Domaine Dujac, Maison Faiveley, and Maison Latour, among others and visit the famous towns like Vosne-Romanée and Morey-St. Denis, as well as lesser known villages like Bouzeron, in the Côte Chalonaise."

Hi Archie and Carissa,

I have seen all the movies at least once and others many times. Being half Danish, I hope I do not resemble the townfolk in Babette's Feast. However, as far as the feast is concerned, Ron and I loved it. Glad you liked it. We have popcorn at least once a week. Contrary to John and Laurie, we like chocolate with wine. Thanks to John and Laurie for the great recipes.

Remarkably comprehensive list. Christine and/or John, have you seen all of these?
My favorite regarding the relationshiop between cuisine and fine wine was Babette's Feast. In fact, I will rent it quite soon.

Thanks also for the movie munchie suggestions and recipes. Carissa and I are popcorn freaks.
