LA TACHE TASTING NOTES AS WELL AS TASTING NOTES ON OTHER DOMAINE DE LA ROMANÉE CONTI WINES

Following are my comments on a vertical tasting of La Tache, Monopole du Domaine de la Romanee Conti 1966-1988, which I organized in Vancouver on September 14th, 2010, as well as a handful of other DRC wines tasted several days before and after this event (all in September). With the exception of the La Tache 1987 (contributed by a participant at this event), all the wines were from my cellar.

A Visit With Robert Lawrence Balzer — Grand Ambassador of American Wine Culture

Robert, the first serious wine journalist in the U.S., has been a wine writer for close to 70 years. I had not seen him since his birthday before last and he will be 98 in June. A true Renaissance man and an epicurean, Robert has been a retailer, an actor, a restaurateur, a Buddhist monk, a flight instructor during World War II, a wine instructor and the author of 11 books.
