Toad Hollow made one of the first bone dry rosés in the US and they have continued to produce really lovely rosés every year. Released earlier this year this rosé is one of the first 2019 rosés to reach the market. And, as always, it is really delicious and a great value. Light pink in color with a faint golden hue it has a gorgeous perfume of raspberry with an exotic floral tinge. Brimming with fruit on the palate, raspberry and watermelon are intermingled with exotic tinges and the wine shows great elegance and style with a crisp lingering finish. 2017 Toad Hollow Vineyards Merlot Sonoma County Richard McDowell’s Selection
This wine is made from 100% Merlot sourced from the estate vineyard and other vineyards in Sonoma County. It is round and lush yet with complexity and flavor and is a great example of what California Merlot can be. With a deep color and a lovely exotic tinged perfume overlaying a myriad of red and black fruits showing just a kiss of spice there is already a suggestion of elegance to follow. And, on the palate the wine really delivers. Elegant and finesseful yet with lots of flavor encompassed in a cornucopia of plum, berry, and cherry flavors with floral spice nuances the wine is beautifully balanced and irresistibly delicious.
