A Pair To Draw To

These are two amazing Burgundian red wines. And, as for 2019, what can be said about 2019 Burgundy and Beaujolais? Based on my admittedly limited tastings Wow is an understatement. Without question 2019 is certainly a gorgeous vintage. Very knowledgeable people who I know and respect are saying it is a very great vintage. And, some are comparing 2019 Red Burgundy to the 1865 which is considered by many to perhaps be the greatest ever Burgundy vintage. So with that as an introduction what would you think if I told you that you can buy great Burgundian like red wines wines from this superb vintage for around $20 per bottle? Well, you might start with taking a look below at my notes on a couple of terrific red wines and then seeking them out in the marketplace. And while you are doing that I encourage you to try other 2019s as I continue to do. The wines reviewed here are my two favorites of the 2019 red wines I have tasted so far. Wines of this quality at these price points are rare indeed! But as we search it is likely we will find other great 2019s.  Happy Hunting and Bon Appetite!

2019 Domaine Verret Irancy
Wow! Talk about under the radar and this wine has it all. Irancy is a village just outside Burgundy 80 miles northeast of Beaune on the way to Paris and is part of the Auxerrois wine-growing region in Burgundy. Only red wines that are made from the Pinot Noir and the César grape are made here. And this is the only village in Burgundy where the César grape is permitted. And, I must say I have never tasted César wine if there is such a thing and have no idea what it might taste like! As a matter of fact, I had never even heard of Irancy until I tasted this wine and now that I have tasted it I will not forget it! The wine is dark in color with a stunning floral perfume accented by exotic spice notes. It also has great depth and balance on the palate. Layers of floral tinged fruit are complex and with exotic floral notes and the wine has a  lingering finish. Don’t miss your chance to taste this delicious and unique under the radar wine that just also happens to be a great value! – Extraordinary. Imported by The Wine House San Francisco, CA    $23.99

2019 Chateau De Pierreux Reserve De Chateau Brouilly This is simply a stunning wine and an absolutely great Beaujolais that ranks with the best Beaujolais I have ever tasted. It has a dark color and a great perfume with floral spice notes and is lush, rich and rounded on the palate with lots of fruit and flavor and a long lingering finish – Extraordinary.  Imported by Boisset America St. Helena, Ca.   $19.98
