Wow hard to believe, but it’s that time of year again. And, for us 2018 was a very unpredictable year. Yes, we were blessed with our new grandson, Chase, who is an absolute joy. But, a lot of the other things we had expected did not happen. And, unfortunately a lot of things that were not planned happened. These included fires and illnesses and other unexpected things which kept me from doing as much in the wine world as I would have liked (to read about the outlook from a year ago as well as other previous predictions and expectations click here).
Yes, I was in Burgundy in November for my annual tasting trip of the new wines from barrel which has spanned over almost 40 years. And, I was very pleased with the 2017s that I tasted (to read a sneak preview click here). As soon as I am over my latest malady I hope to have an article with details about the trip and tasting notes. The wines I missed drinking last year are still in my cellar and this year I hope to get to them. And as the year progresses, I hope to have more commentary as well as notes on new and old wines. So thank you for being part of The Underground and please pass The Underground along to your friends.
Here’s to good health, good friends, and drinking lots of great wine!
In Vino Veritas,
John Tilson
